Domaine Derain (Carole & Julien)
Saint Aubin

Dominique Derain started his career making wine barrels before deciding to study winemaking in Beaune where he met his Carole and purchased 5.5 hectares of vineyards in Saint-Aubin just south of Beaune. They began making wine biodynamically together until a few years ago when Dominique retired. His long time assistant Julien Altaber and his partner, Carole Schwab took over the "fermage" (rental) of the plots for him. Dominique is still intimately involved in the cellar and vineyard when he isn’t travelling abroad working on collaborative cuvées.

Bourgogne Aligoté 2019

VARIETY: Aligoté

TERROIR : Clay / limestone 
old 50-80 year old vines, clay/limestone soil on the plains of Puligny-Montrachet.
Organic and biodynamic.

HARVEST : hand picked

VINIFICATION : 
Stainless, fiberglass or concrete tanks. Racked and aged in oak.

AOC Bourgogne Blanc "Landré"  2019

VARIETY: Chardonnay

TERROIR : Clay / limestone 
Landré is a newish parcel (lieu dit) of Bourgogne Blanc for the domaine named after the former owner of the plot. At only 0.3 of a hectare, it is adjacent to their Le Riaux Pinot Noir plot.
Organic and biodynamic.

HARVEST : hand picked

VINIFICATION : 
Stainless, fiberglass or concrete tanks.
Racked and aged in oak.

St Aubin Blanc 2019

VARIETY: Chardonnay

TERROIR : Clay / limestone 
Saint-Aubin appellation. Close to Puligny-Montrachet.
Organic and biodynamic.

HARVEST : hand picked

VINIFICATION : 
Mostly whole bunches.
Stainless, fiberglass or concrete tanks.
Racked and aged in French oak barriques for 12 months.

St Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" 2019

VARIETY: Chardonnay

TERROIR : Clay / limestone 
The En Remilly lies at the southern end of the village of Saint-Aubin and crosses the boundary into Chassagne-Montrachet. Organic and biodynamic.

HARVEST : hand picked

VINIFICATION :
Stainless, fiberglass or concrete tanks.
Racked and aged in oak.

 

AOC Saint Aubin “Le Ban” 2019

VARIETY: Pinot Noir

TERROIR : Clay / Limestone
Organic and biodynamic.
The vines here (which were planted in 1920, so are now over 100 years old) thrive on an east facing slope covered in limestone derived brown clay and gravel.

HARVEST : hand picked 

VINIFICATION : Blend of destemmed and whole cluster fruit pressed for short maceration in stainless, fiberglass or concrete tanks racked and put in oak.

Bourgogne "Les Riaux" 2019

VARIETY: Pinot Noir

TERROIR : Clay / limestone 
Organic and biodynamic.

HARVEST : hand picked

VINIFICATION : 
50% de-stemmed grapes, 8 day maceration in stainless, fiberglass or concrete tanks.
Racked and aged in oak 7 months.

Mercurey "La Plante Chassey" 2019

VARIETY: Pinot Noir

TERROIR : La Plante Chassey is a south-east slope with clay soil.
Organic and biodynamic.

Les Petits Noizons Pommard is composed of a combination of young and old vine Pinot Noir planted on a limestone rock covered site with a light red topsoil. South facing slope in the village of Pommard.
Organic and biodynamic.
