It's been far, far too long since we've seen the stunningly beautiful wines of Mylène Bru on our shores…

and that's our fault. Mylène has been such an incredible joy to work with. She is very clearly one of our most exuberant and passionate partners. Between the fears of tariff buying, the state of the market, the state of shipping, etc. we missed out on wines that are very clearly gaining international appeal. Much to our chagrin, we've picked up a small drop of what we could get our hands on, with hopes for another later in the year. These cuvées are a mix of some familiar things and some new things proper to Mylène's growing collaboration with her partner Bruno. Many of you had the chance to meet them in 2019 when they visited, but they are eager to return in case you missed them. There's nothing like listening to Mylène and Bruno tell the story of their wines. It's a love story, through and through, and that's the criteria that matters most to us.

Insofar as wine that is untouched and untampered with is proper to our importing project, Mylène’s are in a new league. She started outside the small port city of Sète without any electricity, on a small patch of soft, chalky limestone that is completely untouched, and shares no neighbors (and so no runoff). These grapes are pristine, and Mylène and Bruno foster them into these incredible wines that are stuff of their dreams. Rita is an ode to Mylène's grandmother, and to Rita Hayworth. Zulu is a nostalgic nod to Bruno's childhood home in South Africa. Each and every cuvée has its story. As a woman, Mylène wasn't welcome to take the reins for her winemaking family. Her passion and vision is all her own. These wines are her ideas. There are so many great wines out there, but the wines from Mylène and Bruno have something we don't discuss enough in the natural wine community: a perspective, a human hand and heart that tells us a story about their beautiful place on the foothills of the Pyrenees.
