Mylène Bru & Bruno Barwise

On today's agenda is the wonderful, amourous hermits just outside the city of Sète in a world all their own.

Mylène has come a long way since her humble viticultural beginnings on this isolated limestone paradise. She started in a small shed without electricity, with no neighbors and all on her own. Today, with the love and adoration of the brillant carpenter, Bruno, things are a little fancier. Running water, electricity, windows... you name it! Bruno and Mylène have made a beautiful home amongst the vines they cherish. Often they'll go a month without seeing anyone else, just tending their beloved field in the mistral.

As a result, I think they are happy to have guests. At least they make it seem so. I've always had the most wonderful visits with these two. They've always made me feel like a member of their family because their passion and love is hard not to catch.

If you want to talk about "natural wine," these are as unadulterated as can possibly be. They are made in a field that is completely isolated from any other agriculture, and has thus never seen a chemical in its entire existence. Mylène and Bruno work hard and ingeniously in the cellar to make that the case there too. There's not even a barrel on the property. These wines are pure, deep, and idiosyncratic expressions of their fruit. If "natural wine" means anything anymore, it's got something to do with what's happening at Mylène and Bruno's. We are so very proud to support them, and I hope you all get a chance to do the same. As always, there's never quite enough (Rita is down to the last few cases), but there's more cuvées than ever to get a glimpse of this awesome place. Drink some, won't you? Did you see those jumpsuits?
