Pibarot & Almansa

Today is a special but sadly very seasonal drop of cheap and cheerful wines from our dear friends Phillippe Pibarot and John Almansa. Philippe is one of the kindest and most honest winemakers I've met in my career. He approaches winemaking like a clock-in/clock-out affair: a vocation but also an honest way to make a living. He is the conscientious craftsman that many highfalutin vignerons pretend and wish to be. His famous "Cante Renard'' cuvée is built out of the mosaic that is his domain. A little bit of Syrah on this hill, some Cinsault over there... all picked and fermented together. It's an honest wine with great personality and breadth. Just like Philippe!

John utilizes Philippe's facility to make his punk-rock "Zou Maï" each year. It's made for serious drinkers drinking something not-too-serious. It's a wine for the people, and priced as such. We're so lucky to be able to get a bit each year, so make a little room for it if you can. It'll go much faster than it took to arrive.
