When I find myself chatting and bantering about "natural wine" into the wee hours of the morning…

Elisabetta’s wines taught me so much about what it means to make and drink natural wine, and her farm is never far from my mind during weeks like these when I find myself chatting and bantering about "natural wine" into the wee hours of the morning. We walk a thin line in our industry espousing the importance of sustainability and environmentalism as a function of the work we do, while at the same time shipping tons and tons of wine across oceans. And while I'm under no illusion that we are in the business of selling a luxury product, I still believe that there is a strong message that comes in every bottle of wine made the way we believe it should be. Wine grapes as a cash crop are the most valuable product in agriculture, so they occupy a kind of agricultural avant garde.  Elisabetta's wines are a picture of the farm wines we believe deserve their international presence. Elisabetta not only embodies all of the ideals and practices that a sustainable farmer ought to, but she delivers a product that beguiles. The argument for soil regeneration, biodiversity, non-interventionism, and sustainable agriculture in general, is made by the beauty and mystery she bottles every year. I get so happy to drink these wines that could never have come from anywhere else, nor could have been made by anyone else. I've fallen in love with this tiny part of the world because I've seen it through Elisabetta's eyes.
